What to do?

We have compiled some top tips for your candle care that will assist with the longevity and enjoyment of your vessel.

Candle Care

  • How do I know when my candle is finished?

Don’t burn all the wax. Once the wax has reached 1/2 inch / 1.5cm in the bottom of the glass container, it is time to stop burning it. The flame needs a solid wax base to avoid overheating the glass jar.

  • Let the candle burn allowing the entire surface to become fluid during the first use

When lighting a candle for the first time, we recommend letting it burn for a maximum of four hours, allowing the entire upper layer of wax to melt—the perfume has now reached its optimal diffusion potential. This step will ensure a long and even burn in the future. Allow the candle to solidify before subsequent use.

  • Use a candle snuffer

To limit excess smoke and prevent hot wax from splattering, use a candle snuffer when putting out the candle, holding the snuffer over the flame for 5 seconds. Allow the candle to cool before moving and covering it with a lid.

  • Put the lid on after each use

If your candle comes with a lid of some description, blow out your candle and put the lid back on to prevent dust from gathering on the surface after each use. Keeping your candle clean will help it last longer and ensure scent preservation. DO NOT USE the lid to extinguish the flame.

If it doesn’t come with a lid, you will receive a cardboard cover. You can put this on the candle after each use BUT you must ensure that the wax is completely hardened before placing it on or else you won’t be able to remove it! Please remember that you must remove the cover BEFORE lighting or relighting.

  • Clean remaining wax

Before each burn, clean the remaining wax away from the inner container walls. Wiping off any excess wax residue will prevent further tunneling.

  • Trim the candle wick

Long candle wicks that had fallen into the molten wax may create an unpleasant smell. Trimming it will help your candle last longer and smell fresh every time, ensuring an even burn. Make sure to keep the candle’s wick at approximately ¼ inch / 1cm. You can use a wick trimmer, scissor or a nail trimmer, whatever works for you.

  • What can I do with my empty glass vessel?

Relove your candle! The container can be reused as you please. Clean the remaining wax with hot water and turn it into a pot for a cute plant, a container for your snacks or trinkets, or a vase for sprigs of rosemary from the garden… the world is your oyster!

  • How to care for the surface the candle is placed upon

Make sure that your surface is flat. Use a coaster or protective item, anything that will protect the surface from the heat it is placed upon. Heat-resistant is best, we will not be liable for damage to the item that your candle is placed on.

  • Don't leave your candle burning for too long

As a general rule, we recommend not leaving burning candles for longer than two to four hours and ensure that you do not leave your candle burning unattended. After you put out a candle, let it cool for at least two hours before relighting it.

  • Safety first!

Please ensure that your surface is flat. Please keep your candle away from flammable items, fabrics, breezes or drafts and away from pets and children. Anything that could cause a fire or for the candle to fall over and cause any damage. Containers will get hot during the burn, do not move the candles while lit. We will not be liable for any issues caused.
